How to Get Rid of Tapeworms in Human

Tapeworms are basically parasites that habitually infects human and animals such as dog, cats and pigs (Pig is an unclean feeder, and harbours two worms, trichina and a tape worm, which may be passed on to man).

Several types of tapeworm

  1. Beef Tapeworm
  2. Pork Tapeworm
  3. Dwarf Tapeworm
  4. Chicken Tapeworm
  5. Fish Tapeworm
People gets tapeworm from eating pork (pig meat), beef (cow meat) or other meat that is not well cooked. When a person eats poorly cooked meat, the cysts (small sacs containing baby worms) become tapeworms in his intestines. The cysts may cause headaches, fits, or death.
In the intestines, tapeworms grow several meters long. But the small, flat, white pieces (segments) found in the feces are usually about 1 cm. long. Occasionally segment may crawl out by itself and be found in the underclothing.

The greatest danger exists when the cysts get into a person’s brain. This happens when the eggs pass from his stools to his mouth.

Symptoms of tapeworm may include:

  1. Mild stomach-aches
  2. Simple Diarrhea
  3. Weakness
  4. Vomiting
I know that what is ringing in your head is “how can get rid of this filthy tapeworm” or “how can this filthy tapeworm be removed”. Guessed right? I hope so. Without further ado, following are 4 ways to treat and prevent tapeworm.

TIP #1: Cook Your Food Well

Be careful that all meat is well cooked, especially pork. Make sure no parts in the center of roasted meat are still raw, thus killing any tapeworm eggs with which they might be contaminated.

TIP #2: Clean Your Pets Properly

Please clean your pets of fleas be it dog, cat or whatever. Just make sure they are clean. As you may already know, Pets are the perfect host of worm parasites and are the easiest way for humans to contact a tapeworm.

TIP #3: Clean Your Environs

It is very vital that you flee-proof your residence of flea. Clean your house and surrounding regularly and make sure you dust all your windows, ledges and furniture. Also make sure your stool is clean always.

Remember that if your house and pets are flea-free, then your chances of contacting a tapeworm would be almost impossible.

TIP #4: Antibiotics

Granted, there are medications that cannot treat tapeworm. But I have listed two that are very effective in treating tapeworm.
Note: Please talk to your doctor before taking them.

  • Niclosamide (Yomesan)

Niclosamide work best for most types of tapeworm.
It is undoubtedly the best medicine for tapeworm. It works against most kinds of tapeworm in the gut, but not against cysts outside the gut.

Please consult with doctor for the right dosage.
Nevertheless, do not eat before or until 2 hours after taking the medicine. Giving a purge may help get rid of the tapeworm.

  • Praziquantal

Praziquantal is the next best treatment option for tapeworm, but is more expensive than Niclosamide.

DOSAGE: Do See a Doctor.

Note: Pregnant women and children under 4 years old should not take praziquantel. Women who are breast feeding should stop giving their babies breast milk while taking praziquantel and for 72 hours after taking it.

Side Effects of Praziquantal

Following are the side effects:

  1. Headache
  2. Dizziness
  3. Tiredness
  4. Loss of appetite

Note: These side effects are rare at the low dosages used to treat tapeworm.
